JETs' Axis and Shadow lithium ion battery products are the culmination of two years of work. As a designer I have always felt that higher voltage battery packs offered the best performance rewards. Higher voltage battery packs produce brighter lights that run longer. My new lithium products are no different. The industry standard for lithium is 11.1v. JETs' Axis and Shadow products are 14.8v. The additional voltage produces two key benefits. 1) HID lights driven at higher voltage draw less current. This means a 14.8v battery will generate about a 28% more run time over a 11.1v battery pack with the same mah rating. 2) The 14.8v platform allows us to pair up any of our existing halogen products with either our Axis or Shadow lithium batteries. This gives 24hr and adventure racers a great deal more flexibility when planning their equipment needs.

One of the coolest features of the Axis battery is its' new 15 step fuel gauge. As battery capacity continues to climb 5 LED based fuel gauges become less useful. Each LED represents 20% of the batterys' remaining charge. 20% on the Axis battery is 52 minutes. With our tri-color LED display we can breakdown the 52 min. window into 17 minute increments. This is a much more useful unit of measurement.

Lithium batteries represent new challenges for product safety. Since our equipment is used in the harshest of environments, I felt it was mandatory that our JET packs were waterproof and impact resistant. I even went the extra step and designed in a waterproof breather valve. The valve is needed so the pack can off gas condensation generated internally by atmospheric conditions.

Also new to our product specification data are watt ratings for each component. I am rating our products in usable watts, not best case scenario watts. By standardizing on watts and rating the battery, charger, and light in watts you will be able to compare batteries and lights from all manufacturers regardless of pack voltage ratings. You can also check our run time/charge time specifications to make sure all the claims make sense. I hope this simplifies the process of comparing products.
